Having been lucky enough to visit Switzerland many times while growing up, we couldn’t wait to explore the country with Poppy in tow.

Switzerland is a paradise for hiking, especially with dogs! More than 40,000 miles of marked hiking trails criss cross the country and hiking is the by far the most popular sport in the country.

One of the main reasons for the sport’s popularity is the accessibility. Most hiking trails are accessible from every city or village in Switzerland, thanks to an infrastructure of trains, chair lifts and gondolas. The wide variety of Swiss hiking trails appeal to everyone from beginners to more experienced hikers. We’d highly recommend taking a look at the Swiss Mobility website and free app, which has a comprehensive list of routes across the country.

I’m not exaggerating by saying that Switzerland is easily the most dog friendly country that I’ve ever visited. You’ll find below some useful information for planning a trip to Switzerland with your dogs.
