Best dog friendly places to eat in the Lake District
With some of the best walking in the UK, the Lake District is really a dog walkers paradise. We’re always on the lookout on each visit for dog friendly places to eat with Poppy and Maple. We’ve put together below a list of some of our favourites.
Heidi's Grasmere
A sweet little cafe in the heart of Grasmere with such friendly staff. Make sure to get your dog’s polaroid taken for their doggie wall of fame. Your pooch might even win the coveted title of ‘doggie of the day’ and take home their very own winning bandana!
The Copper Pot, Ambleside
A cosy hub in the heart of Ambleside, the Lake District, jammed with great food, coffee, music, and friendly faces. Dogs are welcome in all areas including the bar, cosy fire room and kitchen garden.
Chester's by the River, Skelwith Bridge
Cinnamon buns!! I'll leave you with that as my first thought, but Chester's offers a fabulous selection of freshly made cakes and bakery items, as well as a really great lunch menu.
Homeground, Windermere
While this place isn't technically very dog friendly (dogs are only allowed in the outside seating), the brunch is so good that it's worth sitting outside for! It's walk-ins only, so there is often a queue out the door, but it's worth the wait.
Slates, Elterwater
A great stop off and plenty of food options from brunch to yummy pizzas. It's a relaxed dog friendly set up in the heart of lovely Elterwater so there are plenty of nearby walks for before and after your visit.
Lucia Bakery, Grasmere
While this place is pretty much takeaway only (they have just a couple of seats in the window, it's a great place to stock up before a hike. Their sausage rolls have gained quite the reputation, so make sure to sample some of these!
Lake Road Brunch, Keswick
My favourite brunch spot in Keswick, the food is absolutely delicious and there are plenty of sweet and savoury options, I can highly recommend the pancakes. The staff are so friendly and REALLY love dogs so it's a big tick from us!
Force Cafe
A new addition to Ambleside and just a stone's throw from Stock Ghyll Force. Staff are super friendly, the place has a great vibe with lovely interiors, good views and music. They have a great selection of brunch and lunch dishes to choose from and dogs are made to feel really welcome.
We’re always on the lookout for new dog friendly spots to add to this list, so let us know if you think there’s somewhere we need to check out!
