Arriving in the Lake District late in the day, we didn’t have time for a long hike so this walk up to Orrest’s Head was perfect. Considering it’s a pretty easy walk, the views from the top are incredible! We took a route through a woodland and managed to catch a lovely sunset from the viewpoint before an easy stroll back down the main path to Windermere. Distance: 2.5 miles Time: 1 hour Difficulty: Easy Sheep Watch:  None, but some in neighbouring fields Parking: Parking on laybys free for 2 hours (LA23 1WY) or park on lane opposite called Thwaites Lane Refreshments: We love The Smith in Windermere – it’s just over the road from the end of the walk with a lovely log burner to warm you up!
