January usually means one thing in this house - it January usually means one thing in this house - it’s time to start planning some last minute Lake District trips!⁣⁣Winter is honestly my favourite time of year to visit the Lakes (and many other UK holiday spots) - SO much quieter and if you get lucky with the weather, it’s just magical. If you don’t, then at least there are so many lovely cosy hotels and pubs to warm up in! All of the photos in this series were taken in winter, and I’ve popped in some personal recommendations of dog friendly places to stay below👇⁣Dog friendly accommodation recommendations:⁣@rothaymanor (photos 6 & 7) - probably one of my all time favourite dog friendly stays - it’s a splurge but SO worth it. Incredible food, incredible dog friendly communal areas and even a dedicated dog wash room with drying robes!⁣@lancrigg_grasmere (photos 8 & 9)- really well located just a short walk outside of Grasmere, well priced, super relaxed vibe, lovely rooms and plenty walks from the door!⁣@keswickholidayhomes_ - They have several properties but we’ve stayed in one of their apartments in Portinscale called Withesike, which was just a stroll into Keswick - a lovely self catered set up, really clean and spacious with treats on arrival for the dogs - the nicest self catered spot we’ve stayed at in the Lakes.
I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve had this I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve had this lake in Switzerland saved on my Google map for literally 5 years! ⁣⁣It was too far out of our way to visit on our last trip to Switzerland, but as this spot is so close to the Italian border it made sense to tie it in with our journey from the Dolomites this time around. I almost cried with happiness when I saw how still the lake was! We arrived late in the day so there was barely anyone there and although we had to walk back in the dark with our head torches, i’d say it was worth it 😍⁣⁣Swipe to the end for a blurry outtake surprise from Maple 🤪
Just two besties exploring the world together ❤️🇮🇹⁣⁣So many photos to share from our trip, but they just look like the happiest girlies in this one 🥹 I know we’ve been pretty quiet since getting back from Italy - only 36 hours after getting home we were completing on our new house, so it’s been a whirlwind of boxes and unpacking for the past week! ⁣⁣There will be a full Italy itinerary coming 🔜 though!⁣⁣#dogsonholiday #travelwithdogs #dolomites #dogfriendlydolomites #livingtheirbestlife
It blows my mind that places like this exist by th It blows my mind that places like this exist by the side of the road in Italy 🤯⁣⁣We’ve been so incredibly lucky with our first few days of weather and calm conditions, we came across this lake on the way to a hike and it was too pretty to not explore! ⁣⁣#dolomites #dogsonholiday #dolomitesfall #dogfriendly
When everyone thinks you’re mad going to Cornwal When everyone thinks you’re mad going to Cornwall on a bank holiday weekend, but you still find a deserted dog friendly beach 😍 ⁣⁣As always, if you’re willing to put in a bit of effort you absolutely can still find some solitude amongst the summer holiday chaos.⁣⁣This beach was absolutely worth the hike in (we made it into a lovely circular walk which I’ll share on stories!) and the flowering heather just made everything even prettier.⁣⁣📍 The Strangles, North Cornwall⁣⁣‼️ Be warned, this beach literally doesn’t exist at high tide, so check tide times (I use a free app called @willyweather) and aim to get there at low tide. ⁣⁣#dogfriendlybeach #cornwallcoast #dogsonholiday #northcornwall
Hooray for summer finally arriving in the Cotswold Hooray for summer finally arriving in the Cotswolds!⁣⁣The wild daisies are out in force and we’re busy rediscovering some of our favourite local Cotswolds walks at the moment. I think it’s about time I starting sharing some new dog walking routes - maybe a walk a week series 🤔 ⁣⁣Let us know if there’s anywhere/anything in particular you want to see 👇
Eeek, it’s been a while 🫣⁣⁣Thanks so mu Eeek, it’s been a while 🫣⁣⁣Thanks so much for sticking with us the last month, life has been so busy and stressful while also trying to focus on Maple’s recovery. Very relieved to report that she seems to be completely back to herself after a very nervy few weeks waiting for test results!⁣⁣Swipe for day 1 after surgery vs now 🥰 her hair is growing back so well! We still need to share so much from our trips before her surgery and a wonderful stay we had in Anglesey, so that will be coming right up as we try to resume normal insta activity!
Oh to be having as much fun as Maple at the beach Oh to be having as much fun as Maple at the beach 😅🌅⁣⁣Had so much fun taking these photos over the weekend. Maple will be in for the surgery to remove a mass on her rib a week tomorrow, so anything like this will certainly be on hold for a while! ⁣⁣#adventuredog #hikingdog #getoutside #dogfriendlyuk #irishsetter
Mentally I’m here ⛰️⁣⁣Anyone else just Mentally I’m here ⛰️⁣⁣Anyone else just constantly dreaming of sunnier days like this?! Honestly just had enough of all this mud and rain now 😅⁣⁣So excited to be heading back to the Lake District in two weeks time so I’ll be crossing my fingers for conditions like this again 🤞
🎂7 years of Pops 🎂⁣⁣Happy Birthday to 🎂7 years of Pops 🎂⁣⁣Happy Birthday to our dog in a million, the best little adventure buddy we could ever wish for and the perfect big sister/good influence to Maple ❤️⁣⁣Excited for the year ahead and all the places in the UK and Europe that we’ll be exploring together!⁣⁣
